Who we are

Hi, my name is Jonathan Franko. I have 3 wonderful children and live with my beautiful wife Samantha, on our 12 acre horse farm. I was raised here in northern Vermont and have always had a love for animals. I grew up working on dairy and horse farms from a young age and have been a life long member and advocate for 4-h.

I work off of evidence based practice, keeping meticulous records of each horse I work with. I believe in collaborating with your horses care team, and escalate any irregularities to my wide network of mentors.

I also work closely with local vets. I have been on several ride alongs with them for a variety of appointments. I have been able to help with everything from normal routine checkups, to procedures and testing. We also have a few clients in which we work together on for radiographs and sedation. While I value the autonomy the field allows me, I also rely heavily on care plans we put together. My goal is to help to keep the vet and farrier relationship strong!

I am currently enrolled in the University of South Carolina and a member of the American Farriers Association. I was featured at the NorthEast Equine Expo as a guest speaker and sponsor for the event. I follow evidence based guidelines and am always reading articles written by the industries best. Always believing that proper equipment, conditioning, and groundwork is the key to getting the most well rounded horses.

This year we will be helping to plan and execute several different educational clinics and events. You can usually find me at a local 4H show helping the kids get ready or at the barn giving a second opinion.

I have always has a passion for farrier work. It is a trade where art and science meet and there is a never-ending need to continue education and research.

I have a passion for endurance work, here is a picture of my horse Ellen, an OT standard bred. In my limited free time I enjoy listening to podcasts about horses and trail riding.
